Shifting Gravity

Art is a mirror that reflects society. Since the beginning of our history, there have always been existing human problems and issues that have never disappeared, even in different times. It is like our given gravity. Artists have played a role in re- flecting the social image of the time, sometimes criticizing it, accusing the pain of the times, and presenting us with hope and the future at the same time. In that sense, perhaps artists are beings who shift or defy gravity.

The Korean artists who participated in this exhibition, “Shifting Gravity”, reflect the most compelling issues in contemporary art and society as a whole with their own eyes, and present a world of works that resonate with human life and values. Each artist’s media and methodology may be different, but they have something in common in that they deal with the problems of our world with various themes, which is critical and essential at a deep level.
